AR-SAG quenchant for Cr–Mo steel SAG mill liners

Wear resistance must withstand impact. Successful quenching must also support fracture resistance in service.

AR-SAG is designed for heavy-section Cr–Mo steel SAG mill liners. Selection considers material, effective section and service requirements, balancing cooling intensity, surface-to-core differences and required toughness—not simply maximising surface hardness.

Why heavy liners need application-specific cooling

Thick and thin sections, holes and corners on the same liner cool differently. Loading position, shielding by adjacent parts and liquid-to-workpiece relative motion also change local cooling.

A satisfactory bath test or a single surface hardness value does not establish the condition of the whole liner. Actual cooling and section checks are needed to balance wear, impact and fracture resistance.

Three priorities to consider together

AR-SAG quenchant for large Cr–Mo steel workpieces

Actual hardening from surface to core. Review cooling and hardness at different locations against the largest effective section and target microstructure. A standard-probe curve is not a liner-core cooling curve.

Cracking during manufacture and service. Avoiding cracks during quenching is fundamental; performance under impact and wear after installation is equally important. Hardness targets must reflect the liner’s service requirements.

Material and manufacturing cost. Once actual properties have been checked, reassess alloy input, scrap, rework and service life—not just the price per kilogram of quenchant.

Buy AR-SAG independently, with application guidance

“Cr–Mo steel quenchant” and “quenchant for large Cr–Mo steel workpieces” refer to this same product. Ask directly about AR-SAG for SAG mill liners or heavy Cr–Mo steel parts; a complete system purchase is not required.

Optional measurement and fixtures

Cooling-characteristic testing compares working fluids. Internal temperature measurement records cooling at different liner depths, while post-quench hardness and microstructure checks assess the result. Fixtures and equipment implement the selected loading and cooling operations in production.

Measurement equipment and fixtures are optional and do not restrict separate AR-SAG purchases. For high-chromium cast iron liners, see AR-HCCI: the name “SAG mill” alone does not identify the liner material.

Start with your need—not a complete technical report

Production footage

Quenching SAG mill liners and heavy workpieces

The footage puts workpiece size, load density, fixture support, transfer and tank response in one production context. It helps identify engineering boundaries; it does not replace material and first-article data.

Grouped SAG-liner immersion

Shows grouped lifting, immersion attitude and bath response for large liners. Material, concentration, process and inspection results remain project-specific.

Fixtured quenching of large alloy-steel liners

Shows fixture support, complete-load transfer and immersion. It explains equipment, loading and flow constraints; it is not a material-grade or performance claim.

Both clips are production examples. AR-SAG applicability still depends on actual chemistry, section, CCT/TTT, tank capability and first-article inspection.

Data classification

Three data types must remain separate

Every curve and conclusion on this site is identified by how the data was obtained.

01 / MEASURED

Measured standard-probe cooling curves

Describes the medium response for the stated probe and test conditions. It is not the surface or core curve of a production workpiece.

02 / PREDICTED

Software-predicted curve

Calculated from a stated model and inputs. It is a prediction, not measured production data.

03 / WORKPIECE

Measured internal workpiece cooling curves

Comes from internal points in the actual workpiece and is used to assess the real cooling process against post-quench hardness, microstructure and properties.

Unless explicitly identified and validated, one data type cannot be converted into or substituted for another.Read the technical method
